Appointments

Please visit our Consulting Room to book an appointment.

We are seeing an increasing number of patients with respiratory infections, as well as high rates of COVID-19 infections locally. In order to keep our surgeries safe, if you or your child requires an appointment, and have a cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, or any flu-like symptoms, we cannot see you in person at the surgery without a negative lateral flow test first. If you do not have a negative lateral flow test, you will be offered a telephone appointment if required. Thank you for your understanding.

A face covering/mask should be worn to attend your appointment, and you should expect to have your temperature checked and be asked screening questions regarding your current health before being seen in surgery. We have a separate entrance and exit to the building for anyone with potential COVID symptoms, and these patients will be managed separately from general appointments.

Many thanks for your understanding and support in this new way of working together.

GP Extended Access Service

What is the GP Extended Access Service?

The Extended Access Service means that more appointments with GPs and other Healthcare Professionals are now available to all patients registered with a GP Surgery in Bedfordshire. This will make it easier for you to get an appointment at a time that suits
you, including in the evenings and at weekends.

When are appointments available?

Appointments are now available to patients registered at this practice from 6.30pm – 8pm Weekdays and from 8.30am-2.30pm on Saturdays and 8.30am-11.30am on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Appointments can be booked in advance and some appointments will be available to book on the day, either via your own practice or via NHS111. This is not a walk-in service so patients need an appointment to be seen by a GP or other Healthcare Professional.

Extended access appointments are in addition to normal opening hours.

Who can access these appointments?

Extended Access appointments are now available to anyone registered with a GP practice in Bedfordshire. Patients must contact their own GP practice to make an appointment, each GP practice is part of a group of practices that by working together, are providing the service in Bedfordshire.

How do I book an appointment?

Contact your practice to request an appointment, if you would prefer an appointment outside of normal opening times, ask for an extended access appointment. At the current time, extended access appointments are not available to book on-line.

How do I cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel an extended access appointment, please contact your surgery during normal opening hours. If you need to cancel an appointment out of normal surgery hours please text 07395 642714 giving your name, date of birth and the date and time of your appointment.

Where do I go for my appointment?

When you book an extended access appointment your appointment will be held at Flitwick Surgery. If you are registered to receive text message alerts, you will receive a text message to confirm the date, time and location of your appointment.

Will the GP or Healthcare Professional I see have access to my medical record during my appointment?

Your medical record will be available to the GP or Healthcare Professional that sees you, to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care. The GP or Healthcare professional you see will update your record with full details of the  consultation that has taken place to ensure that your record is up-to-date. An appointment with this service will be just like an appointment at your own GP practice.

Will I see my own GP and/or Healthcare Professional?

You will be seen by an experienced GP or Healthcare Professional, but it is unlikely that you will be seen by your own GP or Healthcare Professional. If you would prefer to see your usual GP or Healthcare Professional, please book an appointment during your surgeries normal opening hours.

How will my records be shared?

When you are offered an appointment at the extended access service, you will be asked for your consent to share your record with the healthcare staff working in the service. If you are not happy for your record to be shared you will not be able to use this service.

If I have tests done as part of my appointment who do I contact for the results?

Please contact your own GP surgery in the normal way to get the results from tests.

Who do I contact if I am not happy with the appointment?
