Patient input is crucial to the development of services and the future of the NHS as a whole.
Patient Participation Groups are: A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteer patients, carers and GP practice staff who meet regularly to discuss and support the running of their GP practice. PPGs look at the services the practice offers, patient experience and how improvements can be made for the benefit of patients and the practice. PPG’s have the aim of making sure that the GP practice puts the patient, and improving health, at the heart of everything it does.
At these meetings local issues are also discussed, for example the reform of Bedford Hospital, Blood tests and other diagnostic services. Your views, comments and requirements are fed into the Hilton PCN (PPG/PCN) and onwards to the Bedford Luton Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) where funding is allocated.
The PPG/PCN is made up of Two representatives of the Three practices in the area of (Barton, Ampthill and surrounding villages), GP Champion, Practice Manager and a representative from Healthwatch.
Greensand Patient Participation group (PPG) was established in the early 2000’s with a break in 2011 due to insufficient numbers.
Greensand Surgery PPG meet bi-monthly, so have four or five PPG meetings a year; which are held at the Surgery or Zoom. The meetings are currently 18:00pm – 19:30pm, enabling a GP to attend after surgery.
At some of the meetings we invite a guest speaker to give a presentation on an in-depth view of patient services they provide.
We welcome patients from all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds to join our PPG.
